Here’s something you don’t see very often in a spring training game: Carl Crawford lowered his shoulder into Houston catcher Humberto Quintero while scoring on B.J. Upton’s double to center in the bottom of the fourth.
Crawford hit Quintero in the chest as the ball skipped by.
Upton, who was going to third on the throw home, came around to score on what was ruled an error on Quintero.
That was some aggressive base running by C.C. Normally a player would try to avoid contact to avoid getting hurt.
It wasn't a violent collision. In fact, it wouldn't have even drawn a foul if this were the Big East Conference. But it produced two runs.
