Roger Mooney here to blog all the action worth blogging during today’s Cleveland Indians-Tampa Bay Rays game at Al Lang Field in St. Petersburg.
It’s a historic day on several levels.
First, this marks the Indians final trip to Al Lang since the Indians are moving to Arizona next spring and the Rays are moving to Port Charlotte.
Also, on this day in 1962 the New York Mets played their first every spring training game. St. Louis was the opponent, and the Cardinals won 8-0.
The Mets managed just three hits, one of them a triple by Don Zimmer, who happens to be leaning against the batting cage right now as the Rays take batting practice.
