Here we go.
Shelly Duncan led off the second with a line drive off the glove of Longoria and tried to stretch it into a double. He was out by a mile. Still, he chose to slide hard with his spikes up, catching Aki in the crotch.
Duncan was simultaneously called out and tossed out.
Meanwhile, Jonny Gomes, having tossed his glove, sprinted in from his position in right field and pushed Duncan, as the Yankee first baseman sat somewhat stunned that he had been tossed.
This, naturally, caused both dugouts and bullpens to empty as the players mixed on the infield dirt.
When it was over, Gomes, Duncan and Yankee coaches Bobby Meacham and Kevin Long had been tossed.
Gomes returned to right field before he was told to leave. Rays fans in this sold-out ballpark stood and cheered Gomes and Troy Percival, Dioner Navarro and Elliot Johnson came out of the dugout to shake hands with Gomes.
