Rays win, have best record in AL

Mike DiFelice, an original Ray trying to extend his journeyman career as the back-up catcher, homered in the top of the ninth for the final run in the Rays 7-2 victory.

Get this, including the 11-10 win against the Braves at Disney, the Rays have 12 wins, most off any American League team.

There were no incidents here at Legends, but the squad that played Atlanta had some dicey moments. During one 12 batter span late in the game, four Rays were hit with pitches, including catcher Shawn Riggans, who left the game with a bruised left hand that will be X-rayed when the team returns to St. Pete later today.

The Rays return to action at 1:05 p.m. Sunday against visiting Detroit.

The Tigers will throw Dontrelle Willis. James Shields will move a day and start in place of Scott Kazmir, who needs a few more days to build arm strength before returning to the mound.

That’s all from Legends.

This is Roger Mooney saying see ya Sunday from Al Lang Field.
