Nick Punto crushed one to right center field with two out in the third inning, but he sent it into the jaws of the wind and it’s just a lazy fly ball today.
Rays catcher Shawn Riggans just legged out a hard grounder to third. That’s two infield hits by Rays catchers in as many games. Dioner Navarro legged out a slow roller to second Monday against the Tigers in Lakeland.
Rays manager Joe Maddon always talks up the base-running ability of his catchers, and there is his proof.
I guess we won’t play four hours today. Pena was just rung up on a pitch that could have been a tad out of the strike zone to end the inning.
End of three, no score.
Jackson is finished for the day. He allowed three hits in three innings and struck out one.
Al Reyes is on to pitch for the Rays.
The seagull invasion seems to have abated for now.
