Talbot finishes off Jays

It is official: Rays 5, Jays 2.

Go Blue! Rays are 2-0 in their new uniforms.

The Rays got the fifth run in the seventh when Elliot Johnson doubled off the right-center field wall and scored on a single by Joel Guzman.

Mitch Talbot worked the ninth. He allowed a pair of one-out singles, but escaped the jam when he got Pedro Lopez to bounce into a game-ending, 4-6-3 double play.

That was Johnson to Andy Cannizaro to Guzman.

Gary Glover was the winning pitcher.

Talbot picked up the save.

The Rays head to Bradenton on Sunday for a game with the Pirates.

Jeff Neimann will start for the Rays.

Notable players who will make the trip are Eric Hinske, Evan Longoria, Cliff Floyd, Ben Zobrist, Jonny Gomes, B.J. Upton, Shawn Riggans and Dioner Navarro.

Log on Sunday for Rays Live. John Lembo will provide all the updates.
