Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think Cliff Floyd has looked very good swinging the bat this spring.
Floyd came into the game hitting .261 in 23 at-bats. He walked in his first plate-appearance. Floyd came to bat again in the third, following Upton, who has walked.
Upton steals second and tries to steal third, but has to hustle back because Floyd hit a bloop to first.
Maybe he’s having trouble adjusting to the DH role. Floyd played just four innings in right field this spring. He’s now spent 40 innings as the DH.
Maybe he needs more time to get his swing down.
Kennedy strikes out Aybar to end the inning.
He’s had a long three innings, needing 67 pitches. He’s allowed three hits – two were home runs. He’s walked two.
That might be it for the young right-hander. Mariano Rivera is warming in the bullpen.
