Yankees add one in the seventh

Minor league infielder Johnny Raburn has spent a couple of games with the big club this week as the Rays bring over some of the minor leagues to fill out the roster during games.

You might remember Rays minor leaguer Ronnie Merrill, the Tampa native who homered against the Yankees last Wednesday.

Well, Raburn didn’t have quite the same moment.

Playing second base, he dropped a fly ball about 10 steps into the outfield with two-out in the bottom of the seventh that allowed a run to score.

Rays 6, Yankees 2.

Dan Wheeler was on the mound. It was the second unearned scored against Wheeler this spring.

Speaking of Wheels, read more about him in “In Step with the Rays,” which will be posted Sunday.
