I love Paul Byrd’s windup.
He rocks back, brings both arms behind his body, then hands over head and here’s the pitch.
It looks something from and old black-and-white highlight reel. A perfect windup for an old ballpark like Al Lang.
Not many pitchers throw like Byrd.
Anyway …
The pitching is ahead of the hitters.
Both Hammel and Byrd work 1-2-3 innings.
Rays catcher Shawn Riggans was robbed of a base hit by Peralta, the Indians shortstop, who jumped to pull in Riggans line-drive before it left the infield.
