Did you know ...

Some notes about Lakeland …

There seems to be a Starbucks on every corner. OK, that’s an exaggeration. But there are seven, which seems a large number for such a small city.

The Tigers started training at this site in 1934 And, with the exception of the three years during World War II when they trained in Evansville, Ind., they have been here ever since. The Dodgers didn't start training in Vero Beach until 1948.

Adding to the Lakeland skyline is the video board behind the north end zone of Bryant Stadium, the football field located in the middle of town which serves as the home field for the Lakeland High juggernaut.

The video board debuted last season, and Lakeland didn’t win the state title. Hmmm.
