Indians explode for 9-run fourth

Well, that three-run lead didn’t last long.

Hammel allowed a pair of singles to start the fourth inning. He got Haad to pop to Pena in front of home plate.

Then the Indians smacked back-to-back-to-back doubles.

The two-base barrage was started with a two-bagger by Jason Tyner and continued with doubles by Franklin Gutierrez and Michaels.

Indians 8, Rays 5.

Then things got out of hand.

When it was over, the Indians had sent 13 batters to the plate and scored nine times.

Jamey Carroll and Haad had doubles, giving the Indians five doubles in the inning.

James Houser replaced Hammel and had the worst outing of his spring, allowing a walk and two doubles before getting the final out.
