The Longoria 'Wow of the Day'

Here’s why everyone is ga-ga over Evan Longoria.

His hitting has cooled off during the last couple of games, and he’s 0-for-2 today, but he still has the leather.

He just made a play on a bunt attempt by Shane Victorino to start the bottom of the third.

It was a nice bunt by Victorino, rolling slowly up the third base line.

But Longoria was on it in a flash, picking it up with his bare hand and firing across his body to first base to just nip the Phillie center fielder.

That’s a big league play, folks.

The Phillies get a pair of two-out singles off Shields, but the Rays righty strikes out Geoff Jenkins to end the inning.

That’s all for Shields.

His line: three innings, six hits, two runs and two strikeouts.
