The Rays have runners on second and third with two out in the third and Chris Richards batting against lefty Stephen Randolph, who replaced Hernandez in the middle of the inning.
Cannizaro is on deck.
Oh, if we can only get hot-hitting Andy to bat.
And we will. Richards walks to load them up.
Cannie rips one into the bay, but if you know the layout of this ball field, it’s just a foul ball.
Not so in 2012 when plans for the new stadium call for long fly balls to clear the right field and splash into the water.
But that’s a long way off.
Cannizaro turns on a fastball by Randolph, but lines it right to Wiggy at third base to end the inning and the threat.
That’s three innings, eight runners left on third, including five in scoring position.
Oh, and there is a morning dove sitting on top of the screen behind home plate, enjoying all the action.
Now here’s the difference between the old and the new ownership group.
The Rays old ownership would have demanded the dove shell out for a ticket behind home plate.
