A PLAY AT THE PLATE!!!!!!!!

Here we go. A play at the plate, A-Rod and another chapter in this story that’s not going to go away.

A-Rod tried to score from first base on a double to right field by Posada in the bottom of the fourth even though Yankee third base coach Bobby Meacham was telling him to hold up.

A-Rod was out by 10 feet and, in typical A-Rod fashion, he pulled up before reaching the plate. Rays catch Josh Howell applied the tag without incident.

The YES Network, whose broadcast is shown here in the press box, repeatedly flashed to Maddon in the dugout and you know what everyone’s thinking: that’s how you go into home plate during spring training.

The difference, though, is A-Rod was out by a mile, where as Elliot Johnson was involved in a much closer play.

And Johnson is a minor leaguer trying to make his first big league roster and A-Rod is, well, A-Rod.

Still 3-1 as we go to the fifth.
