Rays win! Rays Win!
Andy Sonnanstine retired the Tigers in order and the Rays won 10-9 to improve their spring record to 4-0 – their best ever start in Grapefruit League action and the best in the major leagues this spring.
The teams combined for 19 runs on 31 hits. Each team made one error.
Time of the game: 4 hours, 4 minutes.
“You hang around this long you want to at least win the game,” Rays manager Joe Maddon said.
The Rays will try to win their fifth straight when they play Minnesota on Tuesday at Al Lang Field.
St. Pete native Boof Bonser will pitch for the Twins.
Edwin Jackson makes his second start of the spring for the Rays.
I’ll be blogging live during that game, too, so hope to see you then.
