Well it’s over at Al Lang Field.
Gary Glover set the Yankees down in order in the ninth, and the Rays won 7-6.
Afterwards, Joe Maddon accused Shelly Duncan of playing dirty, and Joe Girardi accused Elliot Johnson of playing dirty.
The umpires had no comment.
Both managers were protecting their players.
Maddon praised Gomes for sprinting in from right field to defend Aki.
The teams meet two more times this spring, starting with Friday’s split-squad game in Tampa. They meet 18 times during the regular season, including four games at Yankee Stadium during the first weekend of the season.
You get the feeling this isn’t over.
The Rays return to action Thursday when they travel to Fort Myers to play the Red Sox.
