Well, the Rays will have to wait until Wednesday to tie the franchise record for most wins during spring training, which we all know is 14, set in 1999 and tied in 2000.
They fell 4-2 to the Phillies here at Bright House Field.
Phillies starter Cole Hamels was too much, allowing just a run on two hits over six innings.
Rays starter Matt Garza threw six innings, and looked real good for most of them.
It was a good day for pitching. Both staffs allowed a combined seven total hits.
The Rays and Phillies are back at at 1:05 p.m. Wednesday at Al Lang Field in St. Pete.
Jamie Moyer will start for the Phillies.
Edwin Jackson gets the nod for the Rays.
We’ll see you then.
Hope you enjoyed today’s blog.
This is Roger Mooney saying goodbye, and happy birthday, Brendan, if you’re checking in.
