Everybody loves Raymond

A father and his two sons walked along the concourse holding a blue Toronto Blue Jays banner, and the fans booed.

Raymond came to the rescue. The Rays loveable mascot ran by and grabbed the banner. Raymond was promptly attacked by the two boys. Or is it one boy and one girl? Hard to tell from where I sit.

Anyway, everyone cheered Raymond as it was playfully pummeled.

And they continued cheering, because Reyes, after hitting Reed Johnson to start things off, got out of the inning by getting Shannon Stewart to line into a 1-3 double play (nice stab at the liner by Reyes) and Alex Rios to fly out to right.

Fernando Perez opened the bottom of the frame by dragging a bunt base hit up the first base line. I would compare Perez to Joey Gathright – same build, same set of skills – but I won’t because Perez knows the value of a bunt. Those Ivy Leaguers are fast learners, huh?

Perez made it all the way to third. He was sacrificed to second by Aki and advanced to third when Crawford flied out to left.

Alas, he died there when Pena struck out.

Still Jays 1, Rays 0.
